Our surgeries are based on a appointment system, therefore we ask clients to please call ahead and book an appointment to avoid disappointment or an unnecessary wait. You should book one slot for each animal that you are bringing.

Emergencies will always be dealt with immediately. Please call ahead and give us prior notice, this means we can organise the staff and equipment ready for your arrival.

House Visits

We are happy to provide house visits when appropriate. Please telephone the surgery and request a visit at least 24 hours in advance and more if you wish to see a certain vet. It may be difficult to arrange visits at shorter notice, however we will always try our best.

Sometimes house visits are not appropriate. For example,  when animals will need to be admitted to receive treatment, if time is of the essence and direct transport to the surgery is more important, if a procedure cannot be carried out at home, or where the visit may put the vet/nurse at an unacceptable risk. However, in these cases we will happily help you to organise transport for the animal. Please note that the 608 Vet Practice does not provide an ambulance service but has good relationships with third party companies that do.

Put a Plan B in place now in case a visit isn’t appropriate or feasible. If you know you are in a situation where getting your pet to the surgery is likely to be difficult, for example if you don’t drive, are quite elderly, or cannot transport  your pet yourself, then think ahead. Have the numbers of local taxi firms that already agree to transport a pet, local animal ambulances, friends you could call on if an emergency arose. We will always try to help, but best to be prepared in advance, as unfortunately there is no ‘999’ service for animals.

Fees: Visits to or from the surgery will incur a charge which will need to be paid for at the time and on collection of your pet or drugs/diets. We do not run an account system, except in exceptional circumstances and by prior arrangement with one of the Practice Partners. For further information please refer to our Terms and Conditions.
